What to look for when purchasing a pre 97 Jeep Cherokee XJ?

I would keep looking for a jeep and continue to save money. The jeeps you mentioned have way too many miles on the motor & transmission. Those vehicles are in their death throws and are ready to die. Besides you don't want to buy someone else's problems.
