Anniversary in Colorado, where to go?

My husband loves to ski and we live in Wes central Illinois....leaving not a lot of options...we always head north to Michigan/Wisconsin. Well, this February is our 5th anniversary and I've always wanted to go to Colorado...I've seen too many brochures of cabins in the snow with fireplaces that I'm now romanticizing about it! It will be a big trip for us, so which town should we stay in to get the experience of the cabins and seclusion and skiing without breaking the bank? Thanks!
